If you’re looking to develop existing skills or to learn some new ones, these classes aim to provide you with the tools to help you on your creative journey. With experienced tutors who are also practising artists, you are in safe hands.

 Use a variety of drawing/painting materials
 Be more confident at starting to make drawings/paintings

Life Drawing

Explore the basic techniques of life drawing to help with proportion, scale, form and structure. Using materials such as charcoal, pencils and pastels with long and short poses to build confidence and skills in drawing from the figure.Course includes lots of demonstrations and one-to- one tuition.
Suitable for all levels – beginners are welcome.

Life Painting

This one-day course offers a fantastic opportunity to make a finished painting in oils – you will be guided through the different stages of making a painting from compositional studies, colour mixing and paint application. Proportions, the structure of the body and artists who have worked in this genre will also be discussed. Course includes lots of demonstrations and one-to- one tuition.
Suitable for all levels – beginners are welcome.

Portraiture

2pThis one-day course offers another fantastic opportunity to work from a model at close range in a sustained pose – you will be guided through the different stages of making a portrait in oil colours: from compositional studies through to the finished painting. Colour mixing, paint application, proportions and structure of the head and artists who have worked in this genre will also be discussed and demonstrated. Course includes lots of demonstrations and one-to- one tuition.
Suitable for all levels – beginners are welcome.

About the tutor: kim

Kim is an experienced art tutor and practising artist, graduating with a BA (hons) in drawing and painting from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 2003 and then at the Prince’s Drawing School, London from 2007-09. During 10 years of teaching Kim has taught art students of all ages and abilities at institutions such The Prince’s Drawing School, City Lit and workshops with adults and secondary school students across London.

Her own art practice centres on drawing and painting from life, exploring a variety of approaches to representing the world around her. Kim has been the recipient of several awards and residencies and has exhibited her work widely including the BP Portrait Award, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Competition.
