Life Drawing for Beginners

4th November, 2nd December

Learn the fundamentals of life drawing, exploring techniques to help with proportion, line, tone and composition making. This course is designed to guide you through the complete process of making life drawings using professional, successful techniques. Plenty of one-to-one tuition and demonstrations to set you on your way.

Life Painting for Beginners

11th, 18th & 25th November

This course is designed to guide students through the complete process of painting in oil using a professional, successful technique. Working from the model you will start with drawing to help engage with the subject and explore ideas. You will then start the process of making a tonal study in oil to prepare for the final painting which will develop over two weeks. Included on this course: an introduction to colour mixing using basic colour theory, oil painting techniques and the tools required for painting.

By the end of the course you’ll be fully informed and motivated to continue painting with a sound method and approach. Plenty of demonstrations and one-to-one tuition.

All materials provided except canvas.

About the tutor: kim

Kim is an experienced art tutor and practising artist, graduating with a BA (hons) in drawing and painting from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 2003 and then at the Prince’s Drawing School, London from 2007-09. During 10 years of teaching Kim has taught art students of all ages and abilities at institutions such The Prince’s Drawing School, City Lit and workshops with adults and secondary school students across London.

Her own art practice centres on drawing and painting from life, exploring a variety of approaches to representing the world around her. Kim has been the recipient of several awards and residencies and has exhibited her work widely including the BP Portrait Award, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Competition.
